Description Performance Tour III
July 20-21

Warren Tech Center, Milford Proving Ground, these are the mythic birthplaces of new General Motors vehicles including the Corvette. The Tech Center is home to Design, Engineering and support functions where the designer’s pen is first put to paper, CAD drawings appear on monitors and clay is laid onto bucks while engineers crank endless equations to elevate a world class car to even loftier heights. And once those designs and equations are translated into fiberglass and metal living breathing machines, they are perfected and tested at Milford Proving Ground, sharpening the performance to a state of the art peak.

MPG and The Tech Center are famous but shadowy places, known by many but rarely visible to the enthusiast world. In fact the MPG is so restricted that not even GM staff can just go for a visit. But once again the National Corvette Museum brings enthusiasts the very rare chance to enter the hallowed halls of The Tech Center and drive the tracks of Milford Proving Ground.

On Friday, July 20, a small fortunate group from the Corvette Museum will tour the Tech Center, meeting designers, visiting the wind tunnel, talking to Corvette engineers and learning about the support engineering available in the Warren MI facility.

Saturday morning the group will travel out to Milford Michigan to spend the day driving on the High Banked Oval, scene of the famous 63 Corvette debut, the Milford Road Course with its famous “toilet bowl” carousel and Black Lake with high speed rides in a ZR1 driven by an MPG Track Rat. Participants will also get pictures of them and their cars on track.

This special fundraiser is open to only 20 Corvettes/40 people and will include 3 nights at the Somerset Inn, Troy MI, a 5-star hotel, breakfast 3 mornings, lunch on Friday and Saturday, a special supper arrangement on Friday evening and dinner at the GM Heritage Center on Saturday evening and a DVD of pictures from MPG. At various times throughout the event we will be joined by GM designers and engineers affording opportunity to talk and ask questions in a small group setting. The cost for this special and rare opportunity is $4400 per car (2 people per) and a substantial portion will be tax deductible to the extent permitted by law. It will be many years before this opportunity can ever be available again if even possible.
