We return for our 5th year to VIRginia International Raceway for the NCMs largest High Performance Driving Event. Bigger than ever, for 2 days Corvettes will pound the track as beginning students learn how to handle their cars, advanced students perfect their lines and spectators can take rides with instructors in new muscle or vintage race machines on the 20 turn challenging road course. One of the countrys premier circuits, our High Performance Driving Event at VIR is always highly anticipated and sells out in minutes. Once again we will have members of the GM Corvette Team in attendance as students and instructors. Past attendees at our HPDEs have included Tom Wallace, Kirk Bennion, Harlan Charles, Wil Cooksey and even the driving instructor for the Kentucky State Police. As our past participants in HPDEs have discovered, there are more smiles per mile at one of these schools than you can ever imagine.
In addition to our regular run groups based on experience; beginner, novice, intermediate, and advanced plus instructors, we will continue our unique special class known as PrimeDrive. This one-day school limited to 10 registrants features a classroom session, one on-track session with an instructor in car and one session ride-along with an instructor. The PrimeDrive is an excellent opportunity to sample our driving program before taking part in a full school.
There are a number of new additions to the event including the skidpad, rides in a vintage race car and a special corral for a spectator celebrity choice car show. We also will see the return of past vendors Zip Products, KNS Brakes, Pfadt, Michelin Tires and a larger Corvette Store. As always, spectator admission remains free.
Students must drive either a coupe or FRC Corvette; convertibles are only permitted if they have an SCCA roll cage. All students will have classroom instruction and Beginner, Novice and Intermediate students will be accompanied by an instructor in their car while on track. Intermediate students will be checked out for possible solo status.
On site will be vendors, a large NCM Corvette Store as well as celebrity instructors. In past years our celebrity instructors have included Andy Pilgrim and Shields Bergstrom and they will drive students around the track as well as providing advanced classroom.
