Good morning from the heartlands, its going to get crazy busy here this week with the majority of folks starting to plant their crops. Corn will be the primary but soybeans will not be to far behind since both benifit from early planting.

Saturday had a nice drive in the C5...I'm to the point that I'm saying its the best car I have ever owned...I know that's radical but I'm feeling it....

The family spent the afternoon on our makeshift gun range. The girls were trying out their new S&W's Airlight's 38 Specials. And UBoy has a new S&W 22 with a 25 round clip he was banging away with. See the Gun Thread for more.

Have a great Monday, give someone a hand up today....it will help them and make you feel better.....

Lots of people go on an Easter egg hunt. Were you hunting Easter eggs on the range? Colored eggs make great targets.

Felt like major league crap yesterday. Saturday I started showing signs of infection on the dog scratch site. Took an antibiotic Saturday and a couple yesterday. Infection is retreating but the meds make me feel like crapolla. I get infections way too easily. If I treat them early I heal up quickly. As busy as I am I get knicks, scratches cuts and scrapes almost everyday. Most don't give me any problem but every once and awhile one starts getting red and I have to be all over it. One of my doctors says you have to stop doing so much. You're getting older. You must try to protect yourself. If you must do something wear long sleeved shirts and pants, shin guards, gloves, glasses, etc. Next day, I'm back out there in a pair of shorts, t-shirt and a pair of deck shoes. I'll try to be more careful.

Good Morning CGs!

Well, last night my worst fear was realized...the dreaded leaking heater core (insert eerie theme music here). I had a problem with some coolant loss a few weeks ago that I was hoping was due to a prestone hose flush kit adapter, but no luck. I noticed the leak again yesterday and finally felt a small amount inside the cabin after smelling it while driving last night. Darn it. Luckily it's not as bad of a job on the early style interiors. Still several hours work. They no longer make an OEM version, so I'm stuck with aftermarket. I'll probably just loop the lines for now until I can get it sorted out.

How did everyone's Easter go? We spent it over at family's house. Lots of food. I didn't drink at all since I have work today, but that didn't stop others. Of course they always try to convince you that "just one" is ok but you have to be firm or it goes downhill quick. And even though I don't really like golf that much, we watched the end of the Master's. Pretty "exciting" as far as golf goes.

Hope everyone has great day!

Matthew

Hidey-ho! Get better, Tommy! I figure soon enough I'll be hiding my own Easter eggs. Had a nice day yesterday, dinner turned out pretty good, everyone went back for seconds. And the Masters finish was terrific. Congrats to Bubba on an amazing win:

Have a great day, everybody!

Morning guys...It's going to be a hectic week for me, it's PROM week and I am Jr Class sponsor this year. That means almost every night this week, I'll be up here decorating. What a PITA....I hate prom.

I just had another teacher come in and give me about 100 square feet of hard maple tongue and groove flooring, Not sure what I am going to do with it, but they were going take it to the dump if I didn't want it.

Well kids are starting to show up, got to go to work.

Ahhh, I made it to chat before 6PM in the evening!!!
Good morning all. I hope you all had a great Easter spent with family and friends. Its back to the grind today.

I spent all day Saturday at the Evolution Performance Driving School attempting to learn autocross skills. It was a real eye opener for me as this was my first time getting any professional driving training. I was thinking about Bill a whole lot and wished he was there showing me some ropes. Although I'm not sure he likes the cone type driving events. We got well over 24 runs, many with instructors and many solo. We also got to have National SCCA Champions and long time competative instructors drive our cars with us in them to see how it "can" be done. I tell you, being a passenger in a car be driven by one of those guys is incredible. When they say go fast in the fast parts and slow in the slow parts they aren't kidding. Way more agressive than I am. I'm talking 50MPH up to the pivot cone, brake, off brake, turn, unwind and gas!!! What a blast. I shaved many seconds from my first pass to my last pass and learned a lot. It will still take time for those lessons to sink into my thick skull and practice more. I'm already going to sign up for more training in May and June.

I hope Brian fixes his photos from his SCCA Autocross Debut. When we get our photos up I'll post some. The Corvettes were dominating the course, but one car... A Daytona Kit Car with huge stickies on it was kicking everyones but!!

Cheers and have a great day!

Nope, I don't like cones (personally), and I don't like the 50 seconds of seat time, 20 minutes is about my minimum.

But then, I don't necessarily like HPDE's either. I've never entered a car in one and while driving a new recetrack for a few laps is very interesting and fun, driving a track I've been on without competition doesn't do much for me.

Instruction is the only real way to see how to do it right.
So many drivers at HPDE's are out there doing things wrong, they keep driving the wrong line over and over (while they're having fun in their car, they're not improving).

I usually drive a student's car a couple laps at 70% to shou them the correct lines, how & when to use the brakes, etc. And show them a "faster" lap if they want.

I won't be instructing the street car drivers as much this year (kinda too bad because it's enjoyable)because I'm developing a program to work some HPDE drivers that want to get their competition licenses. There's a big difference between high performance driving and race craft but at least these cars will have full cages and 6 point harnesses.

LOL. My sister and BIL got caught up in a trap similar to that up in Bradenton. They don't have a pot to piss in and they continue to do stupid things (like not wearing a seatbelt). Cost them $75 each. Then they moaned and groaned about it. Don't do the crime if you can't spend the dime. Moms with unsecured kids is another pet peeve of mine. The minute you spend putting the kid in a child restraint could be the difference between your child living or dying in a car accident. Accidents for the most part, are not planned events.

I'm planning another bedroom addition, with a lock on the door that I can just throw crap in until it fills up to the ceiling.

When it gets full, I can just build another room.

No, that's the way the pro's do it and I F that up everytime.

I have done that before but this base molding was cut quite a few years ago before I acquired a coping saw.

It's great for inside corners but I still have outside corners to do.

Yea, sure, he makes it look easy.

I usually slip and cut the pointy part off.

Then I get to make yet another trip down to Home Depot,
