Kind of on the same line! Neighbors son has a 88 C4 buys all these goodies over two years HSR, heads, 383, you name it he did it! Idles great sounds good, Hood won't close! So now its a new hood, then paint. So was it the heads that changed under hood dimensions or the HSR or a combination of both! Edelbrock heads have the same physical Dim. The kids a 30 yr. Dentist and gear head. He did all the work himself. We were all surprised at the hood closure problem!

Apparently, the clearance problem is quite significant! From what he(Dentist) has been telling me 2" problem. He talking about removing the HSR and using the Edelbrock fuel injection system. I will relay what you said Dale. Thanks

I'm no expert. Research it. But I've read about people modifying their HSR to make it fit under a standard hood.

You just reinforced what his dad and I told him Friday. I think he agrees with us, He agrees thats why he is serious about the Edelbrock or Mass Flo system, more effcient and responsive.

Luckily it's on sale:

"You Save: $0.05 "

As far as the HSR, it will not fit under a stock hood. Several guys have modified it by cutting the runners and rewelding. There is a company that sells them premodified.

Im running a USM hsr.

It allows me to run a regular size dizzy instead of a small cap and it fully ported. Great intake but for what I paid I should be shot

There is a guy here that used to modify them. Another option is an angled throttle body spacer. the hood clearance problem is where the throttle body is. Its been well researched at that other site

IDK,,,I've yet to see a spacer that works. (I think it's still talk at this point!!!

IMO, a spacer might work, but only if you welded the spacer to the plenum, filled, and redrilled the TB screw-holes at a downward angle.

Before doing that, cutting it down 1/2" makes more sense to me. (That requires welding as well.)

FYI: I sent gofastparts.com an email. I asked if they were friggin' serious about the SR price-tag! LOL

Your right! But his dad and I felt some what responsible for not thinking about clearance issues. His son is really laid back kind of guy. Bought the vette cheap less then $4000. and tore in to it. He seems to be leaning towards the Edelbrock system (looks like a Holley 4bbl carb). He will put the HSR on another vehicle. Being an Oral Surgeon he researches out everything in detail (except for clearance)
