Now the auto companies? Bullshit.
Let them die like they deserve to.
I don't put all the blame on the companies.
It is a somewhat gnarly cycle from my observation... They screwed the workers, then they had a strike, they then got a union, who, inturn, screwed the automakers. The union screw job lasted longer than the other way around and now we are looking at the automakers going down...
Now, I will put much of the blame on them for crappy product. They milked the loyalty of the consumer for too damned long.
The unions are the problem. The legacy costs of healthcare and pension are killing GM, Ford, Chrysler.
Toyota and Honda can build cars far cheaper in the US becuase they are not saddled with the legacy costs born by union extortion.
The best thing GM can do is go Chapter 11, and break the union. It is necessary to save the company.
If the government hands them $58Billion dollars you will be paying for UNION HEALTHCARE. I don't give a rats ass if the union has healthcare or not. When I didn't have it, no one gave a shit about me, and it is not the role of the taxpayer to pay for anyone's healthcare.
