Where I teach in South Bend to Granger is about 20 miles. Two years ago we had 7" of blowing and drifting snow in 3 hours. Roads were bad, visability zero, snow coming down at 2" per hour with 45-50 mph winds. 4 hours later I got home. At one point I went off the road out in the county with snow over my hood. Great!!!! It was really quiet, peaceful. That will stick in my brain for awhile. Bill I don't know how you do it without 4 wheel drive. County plows don't clear us out for days after a heavy snow. Everyone soon learns at least one of your vehicles needs to be a 4x4 and even bone stock Jeep Wranglers aren't up to the task when confronted with 36" of blowing a drifting without a lift kit and some big deep tires. I think its the wet heavy stuff that complicates driving. |
