SloRvette; StealthRam 398 - 10.59@129 Took my '85 to Etown for the Challenge today. First time to the track with the car. Pretty much no WOT tuning, just a WAG. Normally aspirated 398 - all motor on 275/45/17 MT drag radials
Ran this like the car was sitting in the other thread.
I'm excited.
EDIT more info Quote:
SloRvette; That was all motor. No nitrous.
There's no roll bar in the car so I don't see myself going back to Etown anytime soon with this car. I'm bulding a '90 that's going to have a jungle gym in it (25.5 cert.).
This car has such a cool factor in that there's nothing to give away it's performance. Idles nice at 900 rpm. Power brakes work no problem. It's a super clean car - real nice interior, no guages, 17" wheels, stock shifter, AC, the whole bit. I just really don't want to put a bar in it. It's my history that as soon as I put a bar in, the car becomes a race car and not a street car.
Next time to the track will be to get a time slip with the nitrous.
The cam isn't as bad as I thought it would be. Ed Curtis from FlowTech Inductions helped out on this one. 109 lsa, idles at 60-65 kpa. The car does have a FAST XFI on it running true sequential with proper cylinder sequence/firing. Getting that right really helped the idle out. 60 lb injectors. 4000 stall Protorque 9" converter also helps out on the driveabilty.
Also need to give a big thanks to Mike Theroux from Mikesportingservice.com for the great work on the heads and intake.
